 A blog post by ex-police officer, former psychotherapist, and award-winning, New York Times Best Selling Author, Michael McGarrity. I’m not sure my fans and readers give a hoot about my journey to become a writer. If they do, they can easily research me on the Internet, or read the author’s bio on my website. Either way, it won’t be complete because there’s a whole lot about my life that simply isn’t anybody’s business. What I do believe is that good fiction writers are invisible and they never show up raw and naked on the pages of their books. That’s the way it should be. Readers really only care about the story. And it’s either good or it isn’t. That’s what counts. Being famous or a celebrity writer doesn’t mean a thing. Storytelling is everything. If you’re interested in my writing and are new to it, what you need to know is that regardless of the genre, be it crime or historical fiction, all my stories are about family. If you get into my books, you’ll soon find out what I mean. Don’t forget to patronize your local independent bookstore. They are a big part of the cultural bloodstream of your communities. anks for sharing the article, and more importantly, your personal expe rience mindfully using our emotions as data about our inner state ansdd knowing when it’s better to de-escalate by taking a time out are great tools.
